
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its winning run and closed 9.19 points higher at 2,631.48 on Monday.
Although the benchmark index climbed as high as 2,638.73 points during the session, it erased most of the gains to end the session 0.45% higher.
Trading volume remained subdued, with total turnover shrinking to Rs 6.38 billion. A total of 14.17 million shares were traded through 63,371 transactions during the session. Market breadth remained mildly positive, as the share prices of 145 companies advanced while 103 declined.
Sahas Urja Ltd led the session in terms of turnover, with Rs 365.39 million worth of shares traded. Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd and Butwal Power Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 314.75 million and Rs 307.57 million, respectively.
Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with most sub-indices ending the session in the green. The Manufacturing & Processing sub-index posted the highest gain of 1.61%, while Microfinance and Life Insurance followed with gains of 1.04% and 0.92%, respectively. The Hydropower and Others sub-indices, however, posted marginal losses.
