
KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losses for a fourth straight session, closing 11.06 points lower at 2,629.89 points on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, it lost momentum as the session progressed and eventually closed 0.41% lower.
Unit prices of 162 scrips declined during the session, while 86 advanced. Radhi Bidhyut Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 729.51 million worth of shares traded. Next were Universal Power Company Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd with turnovers of Rs 622.77 million and Rs 617.16 million, respectively.
Except for Hydropower and Hotels & Tourism, all other trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the market heavyweight Banking sub-index, which was down by 1.05 points. Hydropower posted the biggest gain of 1.22%.
Despite the loss, total turnover improved to Rs 9.13 billion with 19.99 million units traded through 86,663 transactions.
