Nepse extends gains to third session; turnover rises to Rs 9.22 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepse posted a nominal 1.6-point gain to stretch its winning streak into a third straight session on Monday.

On the first trading day since the government unveiled the budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 on Thursday, the benchmark index breached the psychological 2,700-point level twice during the session. However, it failed to sustain the momentum on both occasions and closed at 2,694.66 points.

Trading activity increased compared to past sessions as 22.03 million units worth Rs 9.22 billion were traded on the bourse on Monday.

Share prices of 133 companies declined, while 115 advanced during the session. Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 874.73 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Universal Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 650.21 million and Rs 541.92 billion, respectively.

Among trading groups, seven posted gains and the remaining six ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was up by 2.39%, while Banking logged the biggest loss of 0.59%.
