KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its upward momentum on Monday, closing 28.91 points higher at 2,660.39 points, buoyed by strong gains in the final hour of trading.
After a slow start, the benchmark index surged 1.09% by the close. This marked the third consecutive day of gains on the bourse. Improved investor sentiment led to an increase in total turnover to Rs 7.03 billion, with over 15.76 million shares changing hands in 70,214 transactions.
Unit prices of 217 listed scrips went up during the session, while only 31 declined.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd led the market with a turnover of Rs 461.64 million. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Butwal Power Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 455.5 million and Rs 258.38 million, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Investment sub-index posted the strongest performance with a 2.38% rise, followed by Microfinance (2.22%) and Hydropower (1.38%). Only the Manufacturing & Processing and Trading groups ended in the red with marginal losses.
