Nepse extends gains to second session; turnover rises to Rs 4.68 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gains for a second consecutive session on Monday, climbing 25.55 points, or 0.99%, to close at 2,585.04.

The benchmark index remained mostly positive throughout the trading session. It opened at around 2,559 points and climbed to an intraday high of 2,587.34 points before easing slightly toward the close.

The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of blue-chip companies, also gained 0.99%.

Market breadth was strongly positive on the week’s first trading session, with 226 stocks advancing, while 47 declined and two remained unchanged. Total turnover improved to Rs 4.68 billion compared to the previous session, with 11.6 million units traded across 49,074 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha posted the biggest gain of 6.43% on Monday. Next were Trishuli Jalvidyut Company Ltd and Srijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, with gains of 6.38% and 5.93%, respectively. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, on the other hand, posted the largest loss of 8.23%. Aviyan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Sunrise Focused Equity Fund were next, with losses of 5.22% and 5.11%, respectively.

NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd logged the session’s highest turnover at Rs 249.07 million. Liberty Energy Company and Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 238.41 million and Rs 203.84 million, respectively.

Except for the Mutual Fund sub-index, which fell 0.31%, all sub-indices ended the session in the green. The Finance sub-index posted the biggest gain of 1.67%. Next were the Non-life Insurance and Life Insurance sub-indices, with gains of 1.51% and 1.45%, respectively.
