The benchmark fell in the red trajectory right after trading began and eventually ended the session 2.19% lower.
Despite the decline, trading volume increased compared to the previous session. On the last trading day before the holidays, shares worth around Rs 2.73 billion were traded on the bourse. The market logged turnover of Rs 4.62 billion on Tuesday, with 55,450 units traded through 10.34 million transactions.
Unit prices of 235 scrips declined during the session, while 16 advanced and one remained unchanged. Union Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 283.13 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 194.5 million and Rs 126.16 million, respectively.
All sectoral indices ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Others sub-index, which was down by 4.83%. Next were Hydropower and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices with losses of 2.74% and 2.72%, respectively.
