KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gains for a third consecutive session on Thursday, closing 4.66 points higher at 2,542.77.
The benchmark index fluctuated throughout the session, reaching an intraday high of around 2,545.04 before easing toward the close.
A total of 145 stocks advanced during the session, while 123 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Total turnover improved to Rs 3.46 billion with 12.16 million units traded through 40,962 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd posted the biggest gain of 8.76%. Chirkhwa Hydropower Ltd and Asha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd were next with gains of 8.56% and 8.29%, respectively. On the other hand, Pure Energy Ltd posted the largest loss of 13.33%. Next were Aatmanirbhar Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Central Finance Company Ltd with losses of 6.1% and 5.76%, respectively.
Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 409.08 million worth of shares traded. Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd and Solu Hydro Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 133.38 million and Rs 128.69 million, respectively.
Nine among 13 trading groups posted gains on Thursday, while four ended the session in the red. The Other sub-index posted the largest loss at 0.36%. On the other hand, the Investment sub-index posted the biggest gain of 1.26%. Next were the Trading and the Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, which posted gains of 1.09% and 0.46%, respectively.
