KATHMANDU: The government has decided to open an embassy in Portugal.

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday took the decision, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.

The government has recommended Sanil Nepal to lead Nepal’s newest diplomatic mission.

Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Portugal were established in September 1976. It is estimated that around 20,000 Nepalis currently reside in the southern European country.
