KATHMANDU: Nepal and Switzerland signed an air service agreement (ASA) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The agreement paves the way for commercial flight operations between the two countries. However, Nepali carriers cannot operate flights to Switzerland immediately as they remain prohibited from the European Union (EU) airspace.
As per the agreement, designated carriers of the two countries can operate up to 28 passenger flights a week and unlimited cargo flights.
Switzerland has named Swiss International Air Lines and Edelweiss Air as its designated carriers, while Nepal has named Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines as the designated carriers for flight operations.
Switzerland is the 43rd country to sign ASA with Nepal.
