KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a 0-11 defeat against North Korea in its final match of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifier, in Thimphu, Bhutan, on Sunday.
The result ended Nepal’s hope of playing the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asia Cup to be held in Thailand.
Nepal played a 1-1 draw against Bhutan in its first match, while it defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the second match.
North Korea qualified for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asia Cup from Group A. It crushed Saudi Arabia 15-0 in the opening match before defeating hosts Bhutan 10-0 in the second match.
North Korea scored five goals in the first half against Nepal and added six more in the second half.
Nepal, which ended the Qualifier with four points from three matches, is second on the table. However, Bhutan can climb into the second position if it beats Saudi Arabia in its final match later on Sunday.
