Nepal promoted in Dhaka

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), and Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) jointly organized a tourism promotion event in Dhaka on Friday.

The program organized under the theme – Next Door Nepal: Your Ultimate Travel Destination – featured B2B networking sessions between Nepali and Bangladeshi tourism entrepreneurs, aiming to strengthen ties between the two neighboring countries, the embassy said in a press statement.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari underscored the role of tourism in fostering bilateral relations. “The excellent neighborly relations between the two countries have been further consolidated by tourism and people-to-people linkages,” he said, expressing hope that the B2B contacts would be instrumental in bringing the two peoples and countries together.

Laxman Gautam, head of the Marketing and Promotion Department of NTB made a presentation on Nepal’s major tourist attractions. “Bangladesh remains one of the major tourist source markets for Nepal. I request travel agents here to encourage Bangladeshi friends to visit Nepal,” he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, HAN President Binayak Shah stressed “the vibrant and welcoming spirit of Nepal” and appreciated the role of B2B engagements in promoting tourism exchanges.

Mohammed Saiful Hassan, deputy director of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, emphasized the need for enhanced connectivity to enrich people-to-people contacts.

Meanwhile, HAN signed separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five Bangladeshi tourism organizations.

The Nepali delegation comprised 21 members including officials from NTB and HAN. Likewise, over 150 participants from Bangladesh’s tourism sector attended the event which also featured Nepali folk cultural performances.
