KATHMANDU: Nepal and China have signed 12 different agreements and one memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The two sides signed the agreement following a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang, at the Great Hall of the People on Monday.
Dahal is on a week-long visit to China.
These are the agreements signed:
- Agreement for collaboration between the National Planning Commission of Nepal and the National Development and Reform Commission of China.
- An MoU for the production and distribution of different products in Nepal’s northern hilly district signed between Nepal and China in 2017 was exchanged.
- Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission of China have signed an agreement for collaboration in enhancing digital economy and cooperation.
- Ministry of Forest and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission of China have signed an agreement for collaboration in green and low-carbon development.
- Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China have signed an agreement for collaboration in sectors like agriculture, livestock, and fisheries development.
- Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Commerce of China to form a joint technical working group to review and amend the China-Nepal Trade and Payment Agreement reached in 1981.
- Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and the General Administration of Customs of China have signed an agreement on a protocol regarding the export of plants for medicinal purposes from Nepal to China.
- Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has signed an agreement with the Chinese Department of Press and Publication for the translation and publication of classic literary works.
- Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology and Ministry of Science and Technology of China have reached an agreement to forge cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
- Besides, separate agreements were signed between officials of Nepal and China on the issues of disaster materials, human resources, and the Hilsa-Simkot road project.
