KATHMANDU: Nepal APF Club has lodged a complaint with the Appeal Committee of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), contesting the decision of the football governing body not to deduct points from the Three Star Football Club.
The Disciplinary Committee of ANFA on December 31 imposed a fine of Rs 300,000 on Three Star Club for fielding two ineligible players in the Martyrs Memorial National ‘A’ Division League fixture against Jawalakhel Football Club. ANFA also levied a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the two players – Ajayi Martins and Peter Segun.
The visas of these two players had already expired when Three Star Club fielded them against Jawalakhel FC. This makes them ‘ineligible’ to play.
“Since the decision not to forfeit the match and deduct points, as stipulated in Rule 19 (1 and 2) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and Rule 56 (1, 2, and 3) of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code, 2019, has put us at a disadvantage, we appeal to ANFA for complete adherence to the rule,” Nepal APF Club stated in its complaint.
Rule 19 (2) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code states: “If a player fielded in a match is declared ineligible following a protest, the team to which the player belongs will be sanctioned by forfeiting the
match and paying a minimum fine of 6,000 Swiss francs. The player may also be sanctioned.”
Three Star Club scored from the spot in the 81st minute of the match against Jawalakhel Club on June 10. The result secured Three Star’s position in the top flight and relegated Nepal APF Club to the ‘B’ Division.
If Three Star faces a point deduction, Nepal APF will maintain its position in the top flight, and Three Star will move down.
