
KATHMANDU: Nepal has advanced to the final of the ACC Men’s U16 East Zone Cup 2025 with a commanding nine-wicket victory over hosts Malaysia in the semifinal in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Chasing a modest target of 91 runs set by Malaysia, Nepal cruised to victory in just 11.4 overs, losing only one wicket. Opener Parimardan Yadav scored an unbeaten 59 off 35 balls to script Nepal’s chase. He smashed five fours and five sixes in his aggressive knock. Shivansh Bajgain supported him with a solid 23 not out off 22 balls, which included five boundaries.
Prashiddha Jaisi (2) was the only Nepali batter to lose his wicket.
Fielding first after winning the toss, Nepal bundled out Malaysia for just 90 runs in 43.1 overs. Muhammad Fatul Muhin was the top scorer for Malaysia with 38 runs off 71 balls. Captain Deeaz Petro scored 10 from 32 balls. Other Malaysian batters failed to reach double digits.
Abhaya Yadav claimed four wickets for Nepal, while Shubham Khanal contributed three, and Bipin Prasad Sharma and Sachin Bhatta chipped in with a wicket each.
Nepal will now meet Singapore in the final on Saturday. Singapore defeated Hong Kong by four wickets in the other semifinal on Thursday.
