KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has honored Mathura Prasad Shrestha, the longest-serving member of the party.
NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa honored Shrestha during the opening ceremony of the party’s 15th General Convention in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Shrestha, a native of Gulmi, joined the party in April 1951. He received his party membership from then-party president Matrika Prasad Koirala nearly a month after the establishment of democracy in the country. He was 18 when he was granted the NC membership.
NC leaders said Shrestha is the longest-serving living member of the party.
