KATHMANDU: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended seven personnel of the state-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) for flying overweight.

The aviation regulator took the decision after it found NAC’s Twin Otter aircraft with registration 9N-ABT that flew to Kathmandu from Taplejung on Monday carrying 48 kg extra load. Also, the airline company was found falsely recording one male passenger as a female passenger.

Those receiving CAAN suspension includes crew members, flight dispatcher and ground staff of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) in Taplejung.

CAAN has sought clarification from the NAC.
