Murder accused former Maoist commander Kham arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested murder-accused former Maoist commander Kali Bahadur Kham.

A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested Kham from Thamel on Tuesday afternoon, according to SSP Bhupendra Khatri, chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Kham has been accused of murdering Koteshwar-based businessman Ram Hari Shrestha in Chitwan 15 years ago. Shrestha was abducted from Kathmandu on April 27, 2008. His body was found on the banks of the Trishuli River on May 25.

He had been absconding after the police launched an investigation into the case.

Kham is a member of the National Security Department of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center).
