KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kavre, has restricted vehicular movement along the Khurkot–Bhakundebesi section of the BP Highway from 5 pm to 5 am until further notice.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Security Committee following a directive from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and discussions between the chief district officers of Kavre and Sindhuli districts on Tuesday, the Kavre administration said in a statement.
Floods triggered by heavy rainfall in September 2024 severely damaged different sections of the highway along the Roshi River. At present, vehicles are operating via temporary diversions, while the construction of a permanent road is also ongoing.
On Monday evening, more than 60 passengers had to be rescued by security personnel after five passenger vans were trapped in a flash flood in the Roshi River at Ghumaune Charsaybesi in Roshi Rural Municipality–7.
