KATHMANDU: Most of the central committee members of the Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) are in favor of unification with CPN (Maoist Center).
NSP leaders participating in the central committee meeting that kicked off in Kathmandu on Wednesday said that the party will continue to exist only if the unification happens. “There is no alternative but to go for polarization/unification. Sooner or later, we must pursue unification,” a central committee member of NSP said. “We can pursue the campaign of alternative politics even after the unification.”
The leaders also said that the party cannot hold its general convention immediately. They suggested that the party rather hold the general convention after the unification.
Speaking at the meeting, NSP Chairman Mahindra Raya Yadav said the party should not hurry for unification. He said the party should first launch a campaign to strengthen party organization in districts, including in Madhesh Province, and go for a respectable unification.
Another NSP Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to answer queries raised by lawmakers at the end of the meeting.
