ITAHARI: A woman has confessed to killing her two daughters by poisoning them.
The bodies of Arpana (3) and Aika (1) were discovered in a banana orchard in Sundar Haraicha, Morang, at around 4:30 pm on Saturday. Police arrested their mother, Ashmita Poudel (21), on Wednesday.
SSP Bhim Bahadur Dahal, spokesperson for the Koshi Province Police Office in Biratnagar, confirmed that Ashmita has been arrested for investigation. “She has admitted to the crime,” he stated. “We have secured a four-day remand for her to continue the necessary investigation.”
According to Dahal, Ashmita is also believed to have consumed poison after poisoning her daughters. She is currently receiving treatment at Koshi Province Hospital in Biratnagar.
“After killing her two daughters, she sent an SMS to her husband saying, ‘I have killed both your daughters; now I will also die,'” Dahal said.
Ashmita and her husband, Arjun Arki, were building a house in Sundar Haraicha-7. Following a dispute between them, Ashmita had left the house with their two daughters.
