KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division, under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, stated on Friday that the monsoon is now active nationwide.
The monsoon generally enters Nepal on June 13. This year, it entered a day later on June 14. However, it was only active in Koshi Province, most parts of Bagmati Province, and the eastern parts of Madhesh and Gandaki provinces.
Nevertheless, the division announced on Friday that the monsoon is now active nationwide. “Since the monsoon is now active nationwide, most parts of the country will experience light to medium rain, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms from June 23 to June 26. Heavy rain has been forecast for a few places in Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces,” stated the division in a statement released on Friday.
Highlighting that incidents of floods, landslides, inundation, and debris flow can impact transportation, agriculture, tourism, and health sectors, the division has advised everyone to exercise caution.
