Monarchy will not return, insists Home Minister Lekhak

SURKHET: Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has urged people not to imagine the return of the monarchy which was overthrown by the people’s movement.

Speaking at a program in Surkhet on Sunday, he said that monarchy can never be an alternative to democracy and urged people to free themselves from such illusions. “The monarchy, which was abolished by the people, will not return, and there is no alternative to democracy other than democracy itself,” he said.

Lekhak said that the current activities and speeches of royalists are also part of the exercise of democratic rights.

He assured that the ongoing movements will not disrupt peace and security and that peace and security will remain intact.
