KATHMANDU: Former Vice President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Rameshwar Shah, has begun executing his plan to build a five-star hotel in Jajankpur.

Shah’s Mithila Hospitality laid the foundation stone for the hotel on Monday. Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav, Madhesh Tourism Minister Kanish Patel, NRNA Founder Dr Upendra Mahato, and lawmaker Manish Jha, among others, were present on the occasion.

KTM Hospitality, a company promoted by Shah, launched the Royal Tulip Resort in Sauraha, Chitwan, eight months ago.

According to a statement issued by Mithila Hospitality, the upcoming five-star hotel will boost tourism in Madhesh Province. “Known for its rich cultural heritage and religious significance, Janakpur has long attracted both domestic and international visitors, but lacks internationally standard accommodation facilities. Our five-star property will fill this gap,” the company said in the statement.

Mithila Hospitality is investing Rs 2 billion in the hotel, which is expected to come into operation within three years. The property will be spread over 200,000 square feet and will have 124 rooms, including eight luxurious suites, and 372 beds.

Former banker Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, and entrepreneurs Kaji Lama, Sudeep Kumar Chaudhary and Uday Kanta Jaha, among others, are also investing in the project.

The hotel will have all modern amenities like restaurants, lounges, spa & health club, tennis court, banquets, children’s play area, and EV charging zone, among others. It will also have a casino.
