Maoist Center slams immunity for Adhikari in human trafficking case

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) has expressed strong objection to the decision to grant immunity to former Koshi Province Minister Lila Ballabh Adhikari in a human trafficking case.

A meeting of the Maoist Center office-bearers, held on Wednesday, raised serious concerns over the decision to provide immunity to Adhikari.

Maoist Center Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota stated that the meeting concluded the decision to grant immunity to Adhikari while prosecuting others is highly objectionable. “The current government has been protecting corrupt individuals from the beginning, and this action of providing immunity further confirms this,” Sapkota said.

Sapkota further informed that the party will strictly monitor the government’s activities after the local body by-elections. He added that the meeting finalized the party statute, which will be presented to the Election Commission.
