POKHARA: A young man found dead on a road in Pokhara on Monday morning has been identified as Manoj Bhujel (21), a resident of Bhimad, Tanahu.

The discovery of his body near the Institute of Forestry in Pokhara-15 initially sparked suspicions of murder. Preliminary police investigations revealed a hammer at the scene, fueling speculation that the incident could be a homicide.

However, Hari Bahadur Basnet, the information officer at the District Police Office, Kaski, clarified that the incident was not a murder but an accident. According to Basnet, police have detained a 20-year-old tractor driver and a 14-year-old boy in connection with the case.

“The detainees told us three people, including the driver, were traveling on the tractor when one of them suddenly fell onto the road and was crushed under the wheel,” Basnet said. “The hammer found at the scene was reportedly being held by Manoj himself.”

The incident occurred around midnight as the laborers were returning to their employer’s house after work.

Basnet added that further details would emerge once the postmortem report is received.
