JANAKPURDHAM: A ward chairman in Kshireshwornath Municipality of Dhanusha has been accused of denying service to a man just because he didn’t vote for him in the local body election.

Harichan Pandit from Ichhapur in Kshireshwornath-9 visited the ward office 10 days ago to obtain a recommendation for a copy of his citizenship certificate. However, Ward Chairman Abadh Kishor Yadav allegedly refused to issue the recommendation on the grounds that Pandit did not vote for him in the election held in March last year.

“When a staffer from the ward office called Yadav, he asked me to visit him at a tea stall with the recommendation letter. I gave him the letter. He signed the letter but kept it with him,” Pandit told Himal Press. “When I asked for it, he scribbled on his signature and threw the letter away,” Pandit told Himal Press.

In response, Yadav stated that he discarded the letter because Pandit had allegedly verbally abused him. “As an elected representative, I am always at the service of the people. However, I scribbled on my signature and discarded the letter since Pandit abused me,” he told Himal Press.

Yadav has declared that he will sign the recommendation letter only after Pandit apologizes for his behavior.
