LUMBINI: The Lumbini Province Government has presented its policies and programs for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan presented the province government’s policies and programs at the Lumbini Provincial Assembly meeting on Monday.
The province government has laid high priority on agriculture, education, health, employment and tourism sectors. Most of the old programs and slogans have been continued. With the slogan ‘Prosperous, Self-Reliant Lumbini Province’, the policies and programs aim to make Lumbini Province prosperous.
Likewise, under the slogan ‘Commercial Agriculture is the Prosperity of Lumbini Province’, the province government has adopted a policy of making the province self-reliant through agriculture. It has also brought several programs to promote agriculture such as ‘Farmers’ Hands, the Province’s Support’,’Soil Improvement for Healthy Living’ and ‘From Farmers to Markets’. The policies and programs state that needful measures will be taken to minimize problems in cooperatives and protect people’s savings.
Likewise, the province government has declared its intent to make the province child marriage-free by 2030. To achieve this, the province government has announced a 10-year strategy in collaboration with local governments.
Programs aimed at controlling child marriage, child labor, violence against children, child sexual abuse, child trafficking, and illegal transportation of children have also been continued in the upcoming fiscal year.
Likewise, the province government is implementing the Lumbini Region Tourism Promotion Program to promote tourism in Lumbini. Likewise, it plans to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of Mayadevi Trail from Tilaurakot in Kapilvastu to Lumbini. Likewise, the province government intends to develop Palpa, Arghakhanchi and Rolpa as hill stations for domestic as well as foreign tourists.
The province government has said that it will prepare detailed project reports for developing new cities on the Tinau Corridor, Tilaurakot, Shivapur, East Rukum and Swargadwari. Likewise, the province government has said that it would develop Gulmi as the hub for molasses and coffee, and Palpa as the hub for bronze utensils and dhaka fabric.
Other notable programs include implementing the ‘Illuminated Lumbini Province’ program, developing sports infrastructure at the provincial level, and gradually expanding different sporting activities to the local level.
