LSP voices discontent over court verdict in Thaman BK murder case

KATHMANDU: The Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the verdict passed by the Mahottari District Court in the Thaman BK murder case.

In a statement issued on Friday, the LSP said it was shocked by the life imprisonment handed to its Madhesh Province Assembly member, Abhiram Sharma, by the district court.

“The death of someone in the context of the struggle for political rights is a tragic incident. But we are shocked and saddened by the decision of the honorable court to hand life imprisonment to innocent people based on political bias,” the party said in the statement.

“The LSP will move forward for justice based on existing law and the judicial process,” it added.

The district court acquitted CPN-UML lawmaker Laxmi Mahato Koiri in the case.
