KATHMANDU: Police have made two more arrests of former civil servants for an investigation into the Lalita Niwas land grab scam.
On Tuesday, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police apprehended Non-Gazetted First Class Officer Yog Raj Poudel and Non-Gazetted Second Class Officer Narayan Raj Mishra. They have been accused of distorting the cabinet decision and preparing an unauthorized memo to transfer government-owned land into private names while they were deployed at the Land Revenue Office, Dillibazaar.
Kaladhar Deuja, who was the chief of the Land Revenue Office, Dillibazaar at that time, had approved their memo.
Subsequently, the office transferred the ownership of 112 ropanis and four anas of government land in Lalita Niwas to the family members of the late Subarna Shamsher on different dates.
With these arrests, the number of people arrested for investigation into the scam has reached 14.
