Labor help desks being set up at Nepali embassies

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to set up ‘help desks’ for laborers in Nepali embassies in various countries.

The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, decided to set up these desks following the direction of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. About two weeks ago, Prime Minister Dahal held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security and instructed them to establish help desks in Nepali embassies to facilitate migrant workers.

Ek Narayan Aryal, secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, told media persons that he was hopeful that the help desks will facilitate migrant workers in foreign lands and secure their rights.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also decided to appoint a dedicated focal point to ensure proper coordination on labor issues. The ministry believes that this focal point will be instrumental in addressing the problems faced by Nepali laborers overseas.
