Koshi Province: Maoist Center won’t withdraw support immediately

ITAHARI: CPN (Maoist Center) has clarified that it won’t withdraw support from Hikmat Bahadur Karki-led Koshi Province Government immediately.

Organizing a press meet in Biratnagar on Friday, the parliamentary party leader of the Maoist Center in Koshi Province Assembly, Indra Angbo said, the party’s ministers won’t return immediately. He also dismissed as rumors suggestions that the province assembly would go to a mid-term election. “Although the center has shown some concern toward the power equation in the province, it has not taken any concrete decision or made any direction yet,” Angbo said. “That is why we won’t exit the government immediately.”

Angbo said the power equation in Koshi Province Assembly is a bit different from other provinces. “It is not possible to make a new government immediately by failing this government,” he added.

The formation of new coalition at the center has impacted the province government as well. While UML has exited from Bagmati Province Government, Maoist Center has withdrawn support from Gandaki Province Government. In Lumbini too, the UML led is looking at an uncertain future.
