ITAHARI: Province Chief of Koshi Province Parshura Khapung will appoint the new chief minsiter of Koshi Province on Saturday after verifying the signatures of assembly members.
“Since both chief minister aspirants, Indra Angbo and Kedar Karki, have submitted the support of 47 members to form the next government as per Article 168 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal, we request all assembly members to be present at the Office of the Province Chief with their identification card for verification purpose between 8 am and 2 pm on Saturday,” the Office of the Chief Minister said in a statement of Friday.
Karki has been receiving pressure from NC leaders to withdraw his candidacy. Nepali Congress also convened its work performance committee meeting on Friday afternoon to discuss the new development in Koshi Province. However, it was postponed for Saturday without taking any decision as Dr Sehkhar Koirala, who leads the party’s anti-establishment faction, was absent in the meeting, according to Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, chief of the Publicity Department of NC.
