Koshi bans construction of concrete structures in forest areas

ITAHARI: The Koshi Province Government has decided to stop the construction of concrete structures in forest areas.

The Provincial Forest Regulations, recently approved by the meeting of the provincial government, prohibit the construction of concrete structures in forest areas.

The decision aims to control the haphazard construction of concrete graves in forest areas and along the East-West Highway.

Provincial government officials say nobody can build graves or other structures in forest areas using cement and steel. “We have banned the construction of concrete structures so that the natural environment of forest areas is preserved,” said Bishal Ghimire, the secretary of the provincial forest ministry.

Ghimire said the provincial government has begun discussions to remove already-built concrete structures from forest areas.
