KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has presented a budget of Rs 25.54 billion for the fiscal year 2023/24.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget in the Municipal Assembly meeting held on Sunday.
The KMC has proposed to spend Rs 8.61 billion in recurrent expenditure and Rs 16.93 billion in capital expenditure.
According to Dangol, KMC is receiving Rs 1.45 billion under conditional grants from the federal and provincial governments. KMC is receiving Rs 793.6 million under different grants from federal and provincial governments, while it has targeted to mobilize Rs 6.39 billion from internal sources, Dangol said.
Likewise, KMC aims to get Rs 2.16 billion from revenue sharing. According to Dangol, KMC has deposited Rs 11.75 billion in different banks and financial institutions. Funds from the Social Security Allowance and Rs 2.99 billion from different land pooling projects are another revenue source for the KMC.
KMC to open pharmacy
KMC has decided to open a pharmacy to distribute medicine to consumers at fair prices. The KMC has allocated Rs 60 billion in the budget for the next fiscal year to operate the pharmacy.
Likewise, KMC has unveiled plans to upgrade its Community Urban Health Clinics into Urban Health Promotion Centers.
