Kirtipur Hospital refers injured Bhandari and mother for treatment abroad

KATHMANDU: Nepal Cleft and Burn Center, Kirtipur, has recommended that Member of the House of Representatives, Chandra Bhandari, and his mother, Harikala Bhandari, should be taken abroad for treatment.

The two were seriously injured when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder exploded in their kitchen on Wednesday night. They were immediately taken to the Kirtipur-based hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the hospital administration reported that lawmaker Bhandari has sustained burn injuries on 30% of his body, while his mother has sustained burn injuries on 70% of her body.

“Due to the limited means and resources at our disposal, it will be challenging to provide the best treatment in Nepal. Hence, we recommend that the patients should be taken to a well-equipped hospital outside the country as soon as possible,” the statement added.
