KATHMANDU: Karnali Province Government has invested Rs 117.1 million in a hydropower project being developed in Dolpa district.
The province government has bought 1.17 million units of shares in Jagadulla Hydropower Project. The semi-reservoir project has a capacity of 106 MW.
Sanjaya Sapkota, Project Chief of Jagdulla Hydropower Project, on Friday handed over shares certificate to Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahi said the hydropower project will play an important role in the prosperity and development of Karnali Province. “Realizing this, the province government had decided to buy 5% stake in the project in June,” Shahi added.
The province government has already released Rs 117.1 million to the company.
The project’s powerhouse will be built at Ila in Mudkechula-4, while the dam will be built at Wards 1 and 2 of Jagadulla Rural Municipality.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 19.9 billion. It is expected to be completed in six years.
