CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Amar Bahadur Thapa
KATHMANDU: Amar Bahadur Thapa, a lawmaker from CPN (Unified Socialist), has proposed the impeachment of the Justices who halted the implementation of the Local Infrastructure Development Partnership Program popularly known as the Parliamentary Development Fund.
Stating that the court’s actions are in contradiction to the principles of the separation of powers, Thapa stated that the Supreme Court has challenged the Finance Bill endorsed by the parliament.
“Perhaps the Supreme Court should take on the responsibility of preparing the budget instead of relying on the parliament. Alternatively, they could consider amending the constitution to consolidate all powers within the judiciary,” suggested Thapa. “If not, stringent measures should be taken against those who undermine the principles of the separation of powers. Impeachment remains the only viable action in such cases.”
