Japanese envoy hosts National Day Reception

KATHMANDU: Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Kikuta Yutaka, hosted a National Day Reception at his official residence in Tahachal today to celebrate the 64th auspicious birthday of the Japanese Emperor.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav was the Chief Guest at the reception, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.

Minister for Urban Development Sita Gurung, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, members of the federal parliament, former ministers, ambassadors, and heads of international organizations in Nepal, government officials, and friends of Japan also attended the reception, according to the statement.

Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Kikuta expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support offered by Nepali residents in Japan during the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. He also referred to the Emperor’s appreciation extended in response to the messages of condolences expressed by President Ramchandra Paudel.

“To demonstrate Japanese culture to the guests, Kendo Kata (forms), one of the traditional Japanese martial arts using swords, was performed by Ambassador Kikuta and Okubo Akimitsu, the Chief Representative for JICA Nepal Office,” the statement added.
