
KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party has called a meeting of its National Council Committee as it finalizes its merger with the Nagarik Unmukti Party.
The party is conventing the National Council meeting as per the decision taken by the party’s Central Secretariat Committee.
Janamat Party Spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav confirmed that the meeting is scheduled for Friday. He added that the meeting will discuss the impending unification with the Nagarik Unmukti Party, along with organizational issues.
The committee consists of 65 members.
A joint task force formed by Janamat and Nagarik Unmukti to facilitate the merger held its first meeting on Sunday. Leaders of both parties have said that the merger process is progressing in a positive direction and that a formal announcement will come soon.
Both parties have reportedly finalized agreements on top leadership roles.
