KATHMANDU: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to visit Nepal, India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Tuesday.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Tuesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit had been finalized, although the date is yet to be decided.
He said Nepal had formally invited Jaishankar for the visit and that the schedule would be determined through mutual agreement between the two countries.
“The external affairs minister congratulated the Nepali foreign minister following the formation of a new government after the election. The two met on the sidelines of a meeting in Mauritius,” Jaiswal said. “During the meeting, the Nepali foreign minister formally invited our external affairs minister to visit Nepal.”
Jaiswal added that the date of the visit would be fixed through consultations between both sides.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal had held a conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on the sidelines of the 9th Indian Ocean Summit in Mauritius on April 10.
