KATHMANDU: India has sent a second aircraft carrying 37.5 tons of humanitarian assistance to Nepal to support relief and rescue operations in flood- and landslide-affected areas.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made the announcement through a social media post on Wednesday. “A second flight has just taken off, carrying 37.5 tons of HADR material, medicines and food packets for Nepal,” he wrote. “India remains in close and continuous touch with the Nepalese authorities. We will continue to strongly support the ongoing relief efforts.”
Earlier, the Indian government had sent 10 tons of relief materials for flood victims, which have already arrived in Nepal.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava handed over the relief materials to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel at Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday morning.
