KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed India’s unwavering support for Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s efforts to restore peace and stability in Nepal.
In a telephone conversation with Karki on the eve of Nepal’s Constitution Day, Modi also expressed grief over the recent unfortunate incidents in Nepal.
“Had a warm conversation with Mrs Sushila Karki, Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Nepal. Conveyed heartfelt condolences on the recent tragic loss of lives and reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for her efforts to restore peace and stability,” Modi wrote in a post on X after the conversation. “Also, I extended warm greetings to her and the people of Nepal on their National Day tomorrow.”
During the conversation, Prime Minister Karki extended her wishes to Modi on his 75th birthday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also recalled the centuries-old friendly ties between Nepal and India and briefed him on Nepal’s latest political developments.
The ministry added that the two leaders discussed Nepal-India relations, bilateral interests and issues of mutual concern.
