Independent province assembly member Surul Pun joins Maoist Center

KATHMANDU: Surul Pun, an independent member of the Lumbini Province Assembly, has decided to join the CPN (Maoist Center).

He was elected to the Lumbini Province Assembly from the Rukum East (A) constituency. A long-time leader of CPN (Maoist Center), Pun had left the Maoist Center just before the election held in November last year after the party picked another leader to contest the election. He defeated party’s official candidate Tej Bahadur Oli who also had the support of other parties in the five-party ruling coalition.

Pun wrote a letter to the Maoist Center’s Lumbini Province Assembly Parliamentary Party Office on Wednesday, declaring his intention to join the part.

The decision means Maoist Center now has 11 members in the Lumbini Province Assembly.

Earlier on January 4, another independent province assembly member, Dipendra Pun, had decided to join Maoist Center
