HoR deliberating on policy and program for 2026/27

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives is deliberating on the government’s policy and program for the fiscal year 2026/27 on Tuesday.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 1 pm at Singha Durbar.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, lawmakers will present their views on the basis of party representation.

President Ramchandra Paudel presented the policy and program for 2026/27 at a joint session of the federal parliament on Monday.

Policy and program precede the federal budget. The government is constitutionally bound to present the federal budget for the new fiscal year on May 28.

The new fiscal year begins in mid-July.

Meanwhile, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam will table the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Government of Nepal and the Government of India during the meeting. Likewise, Minister for Finance Dr Swarnim Wagle is presenting a proposal seeking consideration on the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2026.
