KATHMANDU: Hindu women are celebrating the Teej festival with great fanfare and rejoicing on Monday.
Women are thronging to temples dedicated to Lord Shiva across the country to offer prayers to the god from early morning. Thousands of devotees have queued up at the temple of Pashupatinath – the most popular Hindu shrine in the country – in Kathmandu from the wee hours on Monday.
After worshipping the god, they are singing and dancing in groups.
According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, all four doors of the temple have been opened from 3 am to ensure that fasting women do not have to stay in a long queue.
