
POKHARA: The Gandaki Chapter of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) has decided to confer the ‘Outstanding Sports Journalism Award’ on Himal Press scribe Bijay Nepal.
The executive committee meeting of NSJF Gandaki held on Sunday took the decision.
The award will be presented to Nepal during the 9th Pokhara Sports Award to be held on May 9. It carries a purse of Rs 35,000, a medal and a certificate.
NSJF Gandaki General Secretary Parashuram Sharma stated that awards would also be given in seven categories, including the Athlete of the Year, on the same occasion.
Journalist Nepal, a former general secretary of the NSJF Gandaki, has been actively engaged in journalism in Pokhara for the past two decades. Born in Mainadi in Ribdikot-7 of Palpa, he holds an MA in English Literature and an LLB degree.
Previously, Nepal received the National Sports Journalism Encouragement Award 2022 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Sahara Sports Journalism Award 2018, the Bindhyabasini Music and Song Journalism Award 2017, and the Jitprasad Dwa Film Journalism Award 2023, among other honors and awards.
