DHANGADHI: Dipayal High Court has issued an order to Prison Office, Kailali, to submit a written response on why Arun Kumar Chaudhary shouldn’t be released in a habeas corpus proceeding.
Chaudhary, a Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker, was arrested on February 3 and sent to District Prison, Kailali, the same day. He was convicted on the charge of setting a tractor on fire some 11 years ago, but had been absconding, according to police.
The high court was responding to a writ of habeas corpus filed by Dipendra Chaudhary of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-7 of Kailali.
The court has ordered the District Prison Office, Kailali, to submit its response through the Dipayal High Court Government Attorney Office by 11 am on Wednesday.
The Prison Office, Kakilali has also been told to arrange a video conference with Chaudhary from the district prison at 11 am on Wednesday.
