KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Sudhan Gurung has said that he is optimistic of being fully cleared by the committee investigating allegations related to his assets.
He also added that the committee’s report has already been submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Addressing the first district convention of the RSP in Gorkha, Gurung said he had taken full responsibility for answering questions raised during his tenure in public office. He added that he resigned from his ministerial position to facilitate an impartial investigation into concerns raised about his assets.
“I appeared before the investigation committee because I believe that, having served in public office, I must answer any questions that arise regarding my conduct. During the statement-taking process, some of the questions were quite tough, but I responded openly and appropriately to all of them,” he said.
Speaking about the party’s organisational development and the working style of its future leadership, Gurung said the next district chairperson should not be based in the capital.
