Gurung dismisses Maoist push for national government as stunt tactics Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung

KATHMANDU: Minister of Communication and Information Technology, and government spokesperson, Prithbi Subba Gurung, has commented that there is no point in discussing the formation of a national government at present.

Speaking to journalists on the federal parliament premises on Wednesday, Gurung said that the current government is already a national government and that there is no need to discuss forming another national government.

He argued that the claim that the republic will strengthen as soon as the Maoists come to power is not valid. Gurung described the rumors about a government change as mere “stunt tactics” by the Maoists. He suggested that if the Maoists felt challenged by royalists, they should confront them from the front.

Gurung also claimed that among the agreements made between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML during the government formation, only the constitutional amendment remains pending and that other agreements are being implemented.
