KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to end the term of the House of Representatives from Saturday midnight.
The meeting of the council of ministers is underway to discuss the matter.
“One of the agendas of Friday’s cabinet meeting is the House of Representative’s term. The government is preparing to endorse a proposal to end the term of the House of Representatives and forward it to the Office of the President on Friday itself,” a higly placed source at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers told Himal PRess.
The government is preparing to end the term of the House of Representatives one day ahead of the date to submit the closed list of candidates under the proportionate system.
As per the schedule prepared by the Election Commission, parties will have to submit the closed list by Monday.
The Election Commission has already notified the government that the House of Representatives will be active until the date of submitting the closed list of candidates under the proportionate system.
